The original retro public bar has a cosy and friendly atmosphere with a coal fire and no television so there is plenty of chat and the odd sing song. It has an excellent selection of malt whiskies and Jim can help you to find one to suit your palette. There are also spirits, wines, beers, lager, Guinness and guest real ale.
For the darts enthusiast there is a small games room.
The lounge bar and dining area have a tartan theme with pictures of whisky making and Robert Burns.
The chef Nikos is from Crete so the very varied menu covers traditional Scottish fayre and Greek and Mediterranean cuisine and goes from steaks and haggis to Mousaka and Stiffado with the emphasis on home made food using local ingrediants and in the summer a lot of the herbs, salad and vegetables are home grown by Nikos who is so passionate about food. He bakes all the bread and makes feta cheese, chutneys and fruit preserves. The specials board always includes local game. Many diners have commented that Nikos’ food is better than you get in Greece!
